Hat Salesman Elon Musk a Maven of Merch 3


You probably know Elon Musk as the CEO of Tesla, but did you know he's most recently identified himself as a hat salesman?

In March 2017, he introduced an embroidered hat with The Boring Company's logo 4. The Boring Company is one of Musk's side projects with the objective to create a subterranean transportation network, and the boring hats are used to help raise funds for the project 5.

In mid-December, The Boring Company 6 had sold over $35,000 hats. At $20 each, that's $700,000 raised. This is just one more example of how hats work, especially when combined with other advertising tactics like influencer marketing.

Pantone Announces Ultra Violet is 2018 Color of the Year 7


Each year, Pantone 8 selects its color of the year. In 2016, there were actually two colors, Serenity, and Rose Quartz which has come to be known as millennial 9 pink. Last year, the color was greenery 10.

Ultra Violet has been selected as the 2018 Color of the Year.
