Youth Hat Trends: Spring/Summer 2020

Today, we bring you Youth Hat Trends, the third article in the Spring/Summer 2020 style series where we talk about kids caps.

As we know, this season has three overarching trends.

The first style for the S/S '20 season is full of recycled materials and other renewable resources that cause less harm and provide more help. With the popularity of CBD and other cannabis products 1. comes a rise in hemp materials.

The next trend consists of products with a political 2 or social message. Did you know 57% of consumers will either buy from or boycott a brand due to their beliefs?

The final style focuses on emotional connections to people and products whether they are manufactured or organic.

Check out our blog from the previous weeks where we covered women's 3 and men's 4 styles. We will continue to keep you up to date with future trends biannually. So, keep an eye out later this year for the Autumn/Winter 2020 series.

It's not too late to review and prepare for Autumn/Winter 2019 5 as well.

Kid's Caps

Girls

Caps

For girls, you'll see a lot of metallic visors, straw fedoras, and five-panel shapes. Contrast stitch visors are really popular as well as florals and sublimated looks.

Patterns

Tropical prints are common. You can expect pineapples, butterflies, rainbows, stars, and tie-dyes.

Graphics

Some common elements for girls include unicorns and floral backgrounds. You'll see a lot of colorful, bold, and metallic fonts with positive taglines.

Boys

Caps

You'll see a lot of tonal looks with blacks, greys, and blues. Truckers and flat bills are really popular in the boys' market. You can expect generic camo 6, and tie-dye graphics too.

Patterns

Abstract patterns, space looks, and generic camouflages 7 are going to be huge. You'll also see a lot of palm trees, tribal prints, pineapples, and tie-dyes.

Graphics

We're seeing a lot of pop culture 8 references. Other motifs include food 9, space, camping 10, the great outdoors 11, dinosaurs, and surfing.

Like the older girls, you'll see a lot of unicorns and pineapples. This age group is also full of dinosaurs, mermaids, ice cream, and of course: glitter.
