Youth Hat Trends: Autumn/Winter 2020

Today, we bring you Youth Hat Trends, the third article in the Autumn/Winter 2020 style series where we talk about children's hats.

As we know, this season has three overarching trends.

The first style for the A/W '20 season is full of comfortable pieces made of high-quality materials consumers can count on.

The next trend consists of technical and construction aspects including exterior construction details like exposed seams and taping.

The final style focuses on updating old classic elements to better meet the modern needs of consumers.

Girls

Caps

For girls, you'll see a lot of five-panel trucker caps. These will often have sublimated front panels, rope, and contrast stitching ⁴ on the visor. You will see metallic hits, bright pinks, and small left-side brand hits.

Patterns

Animal prints are common. You can expect fruits and vegetables, cacti, florals, constellations, and geometric prints.

Graphics

Some common elements for girls include unicorns, rainbows, food, and landscapes. You'll see a lot of colorful graphics inspired by the 70s ⁵, soften western themes, and positive girl power messages.

Boys

Caps

You'll see a lot of five-panel looks for boys too, as well as flat visors ⁶. You can expect a lot of greens and blues with corduroy, mountain graphics, and scout patches ⁷.

Patterns

Generic camo ⁸ and heritage plaids are both popular patterns among boys. You'll also see lightning bolts, gaming-inspired prints, geometric sharks, and food.

Graphics

We're seeing a lot of space and eco-friendly ⁹ themes. Other motifs include 1980s ¹⁰ skiing imagery, camping ¹¹, cacti, and woodland animals.

Toddlers

Girls

Like the older girls, you'll see unicorns, florals, rainbows, fruits, and veggies. This age group is also full of fairy tale motifs, woodland animals, clouds, ice cream, and butterflies.

Boys

You can expect lots of outdoor ¹² themes, outer space, dinosaurs, monsters, food, and camouflage ¹³.
